Memorial Day Weekend - Irving. I am seeking some photographers who would like to come and shoot the largest '55-'57 Chevy event in the country this year so that I can have some event photos to remember this event by and use in my followup story and coverage. I am the organizer and while there is no money in this deal (we are grassroots - event hosted by local Tri Five Chevy club), there is a tremendous opportunity for you to get creative. There will be over 200 Chevys from over 10 states attending and what I am seeking is exactly what I see alot of on this forum - some very creative, artsy and unique angles of these beautiful Chevys that will be in town. I will have plenty of the 3/4 view standard photo, what I am hoping to get is people shots, capture some of the activities that will be going on and getting creative with photos of the complete car or partial. These cars will blow you away so be prepared! I just need some photogs to capture the moments. If you can attend any day, any time of the three days of this event, drop me a line. I would love to meet you and if at all possible give you a ticket to any of the events we are doing (including getting feed!).
The event is the 29th Annual Lone Star Classic Chevy Convention to be held at the Sheraton Grand DFW Airport Hotel at Hwy 114 and Esters Road in Irving.
The event gets underway Friday AM with tours to Cowboys Stadium and TMS, while many will be doing that plenty will still be going on at the hotel. We will have a outdoor meal by the pool that evening and then head up to Denton's NorthStar Dragway for drag races with our '55-'57 Chevys.
Saturday is the formal judging of the cars and that will take most of the afternoon, later that afternoon we will have another outdoor meal, live performance by the oldies band 'Curb Service' and then at 9PM will have a showing of American Graffiti - DRIVE IN STYLE in the hotel parking lot!
Oh and Candy Clark who played Debbie in Graffitti will be on hand on Saturday and Sunday!
Then on Sunday we have a huge Poker Run where we will cruise through the area, up to 75 cars and there will be a stop for breakfast on Lake Grapevine at a marina. Later Sunday there will be a 'Peel Out Contest' that Candy Clark will judge and there are tours to Historic Main Street in Grapevine. The Awards Banquet will be Sunday evening at the hotel with more FOOD!
That is a quick run down, the event website has a link with the complete schedule
Lone Star Classic Chevy Convention. As I stated I don't have the funds to pay for photos but I will surely make any of the events and meals that we have available to you if you can come. Even if it's just an hour or two of shooting I would really appreciate getting a copy of your work and of course give you credit for such if any photos happen to make it in any event coverage.
This is a biggie, once in a blue moon event. Would love to have any and all you guys apply your skills to these old Chevys. I can be reached at

THANKS!
