Critique: NC:

They are still working hard to get the place back in shape after Ike, but it's coming along. The floodwaters nearly covered the trains in spots, but they've been working nonstop on restoring them again. There are so many incredible textures and details all over the place. I would love to go back when it's not 110 in the shade with a 4-year-old who wants to explore every train car at the same time.

Engine gauges

Rivers of rust and blue

Corvette suspension

I love the curved spokes on the wheel

Mail train.

I love gears and the striations on the face on whatever that thing is on the the left.

Valves. Lots of valves.

I have no idea what this part is. It was under a car. It looks, like most things on these trains, like it was built to last forever.

The colors and valve knobs were awesome. The reminded me of anemones.

I wouldn't come close to fitting in these things unless I were in the fetal position, but they were awesome.

absolutely beautiful! You did the textures well. Did you do the B&W post?

I did have to laugh at "corvette suspension". I kept thinking of the car and remarked to myself "That's the biggest damned car I've seen."

Thanks! Yes, I did the B&W in post using a combination of Lightroom and Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.

The corvette suspension is sort of an inside joke between a Corvette owning friend of mine and I. Leaf springs are awesome...on trucks, trains, and corvettes.

Thanks! It really is a treasure trove of textures and details. I can't wait to go back when I have a bit more time and some cooler temperatures.

Very nice. I love detail shots, and these are all fantastic.
