First attempt at light painting - 10-01-2011, 11:38 PM

Critique: CC:

Shot with a 186 LED shop light purchased from Home Depot.

Shot at 8:00pm
6X30 second exposures
F-14
ISO 100
6 Exposures Layered in Photoshop some burning and dodging.

I know the crop and the car placement are less then desirable. I was just testing out the light source and it was my first attempt at light painting.

Here it is:

Do you realize how much money you would make if you would put together a tutorial DVD and market it to the salivating masses (ie: me)?

I love the photo, I love your car, I love your skills. I even love that old blue office chair in your garage.

nice work Dale... now take that light, and mount it into a piece of black PVC drain-pipe, to control the spill... or... a white pipe to soften/spread... add a handle that you can attach to a rolling boom... the possibilities are endless... have fun...

After seeing all your awesome car shots, I can't believe this is the first time you've tried light painting. Looks good to me, and I love the lighting in the interior of the car. Looks like the first attempt was a success :)

Very cool! Which shop light? I want an LED one anyway since my halogen one gets so damn hot it roasts you when you use it.

It's the Husky 186 led light a mere $59.99 and it's rechargeable and lasts for 3.5 hours!! You can't go wrong with it. I was going to spend $18.00 for a florescent light and 90 to 100 on a power supply.

Wait ... what ... your first attempt at shooting a car a certain way?!?!?!

The Guru of car photography here has something new ... ;p

Looks good Dale. You did an excellent job for your first time here.

If you wouldn't have said anything, I would already think you had this down like you have been doing it for years.

As usual, I love the shot. The garage in the background ads a little mystery to the photo. This deffinately is ad worthy. Have you done any commercial work yet? If not, you should be.
