CAF airshow in Midland - 10-14-2011, 06:04 PM

Critique: NC:

Here are a few of the 700+ I took last Sunday at Midland. I was particularly fascinated by the B2 Spirit fly-by. The color of that aircraft varied from dull to shiny black to gray depending on the angle of light. The third one is a composite that I played around with. The others are a variety of techniques of processing.
All were shot with a 40D and 70-300 IS.
Enjoy. Feel free to critique.

Love those A10 warthogs! They do touch and goes here regularly along with several other military jets and the A10s are my favorite. Anything that ugly has to be tough, and it's like an ugly puppy, you just can't help but love it.

Very nice photos. The sky provided you with an excellent backdrop.

I love the B2 shots! I've only shot that plane once and I couldn't get a good angle on it.

Neat work! Did you replace the backgrounds, or were the clouds there in the originals?

The only one with a new background is the B2 with the rainbow. Otherwise, the clouds came and went all day ranging from overcast to almost severe clear.

Thanks to all for the comments. I had fun playing with the processing on these.

Very cool. I really like the clouds in the background, it gives a real sense of place and depth. I like that much more than just the plain blue backgrounds, but you take what you can get at airshows.
