Out of curiosity, what lens were you using Michael?

Hey Ken, I had two cameras there, Nikon D300 and a D300s and one had a 70-300mm VR and the other was a 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII.

I gots to get me one of them 70-300 VR's. I have a friend who has one and I can see from both his pictures and yours that it's great for airshow work. I'm using an 80-200mm f/2.8. Although it's an excellent lens, I think that extra 100mm makes a big difference.

Definitely, that 70-300mm is good for air shows. This being the first air show for both lenses. I am thinking of a 1.4x teleconverter, but that $500 is looking like it will wait after dropping $2200 on the 70-200mm f2.8 that I got a couple weeks ago. My wife will give me the evil eye if I come close to a camera webpage.

I feel your pain, brother, I truly feel your pain...

I think I will look into the 70-300 though. If she threatens a divorce, however, I'll look into something bigger. Hell, I figure if it's going to cost me a couple hundred grand, I might as well make it worth it!

Nice shots Michael. Were you one of these guys? I figure there has to be a few TPF'rs (Pixtus'rs?) in there somewhere:

Go for it Ken, but don't push the limits of a faithful wife! LOL! My wife gives me dirty looks, but she was the one that got me that 70-200mm f2.8 and the D300s. I guess my payback is doing the sister-in-law's trash the dress photos. It is great to have our supporters though. My wife is pretty good at supporting and understanding my habits.
Love that F/A-18 shot. I saw that when it happened (on Saturday) out of the corner of my eye when I was on the cellphone talking to my dad.

@snydersnapshots...I was there on Saturday, and didn't avail myself of the height of that media area very often...thanks for the compliment!

The guy on the left looks like he can actually take out one of the aircraft with his lens alone!
