I forgot to mention, damn impressive shot! You get really amazing road shots, and the scenery is remarkable. Do you just wait for the right time of day and head out?

I'd love to pick your brain on how you do these. I'd be thrilled with a shot has as good of one of my cars.

Through the link, yes. Still no on the attachment. But that's okay. Cool shot.

I shot both at the same time. It was an overcast day and it was about to rain. The sky was boring so I replaced both of them. I really didn't want to shoot that day but didn't want to miss the opportunity. I always try to shoot at sunrise or sunset.

On a previous rat rod rig shot I didn't have to do anything to the sky because we had a good sunrise.

Let me know if I can help in any way. And thanks for the compliments.

Man, that is an amazing job replacing the sky then! It is 100% convincing.

What are you shooting with? Do you have a vehicle rig?

Yep. This is the low-res original on the red one:

You can see it needed a little work.

Nice setup! That thing looks huge. Did you make it or buy it? You do a killer job removing it from the photo. Those skies were quite bland.

I bought the aluminum pipe and had the couplings welded on.

Is it counter weighted? Massive suction cup to hold it in place? Impressive.

No counterweight. There are 2 of these suction cups:

427000 Matthews Pump Cup - 6" Suction Cup with 5/8" Pin

This is a good DIY resource:

Official Automotive Rigs - DIY Thread - Canon Digital Photography Forums

There is some good, some bad shots on here but you can read through and learn a few things about doing rig shots and also tips on building your own.
