New Section for Gear Heads!

I created this section to help separate the gearhead shots form the rest of the sports threads...

give us some time and we'll get most of the motorsports threads moved over to this new section

Cool forum...i just got into photography, and I'm big into cars. I drive a supercharged Infiniti G35 and just got a Canon 40D. Can you guys offer tips on taking great car pics?

William, look around for some pics you like, then try to copy the stylings. There are a lot in this forum, so look around for something that sparks you. I've got a few car pics in my gallery, see the link in the signature below.

For Moog -
Your car photos should be based on several points. The shape of the car, the color, the background and the available light.

I believe the most important point is capture the "personality" of the car. If it's a sports car, then you want it to LOOK fast and agile. An low, angled POV will add a lot of momentum to your G35. Partly cloudy day seems to work best for me. Avoid areas that have scraps of paper or trash in the scene (or photoshop them out later!)

Take a couple dozen different shots, you are bound to get at least two that you really like.
