Back from Indonesia; more underwater pictures! - 08-16-2006, 05:45 AM

So i just got back from indonesia. I was diving in Raja Ampat, which is arguably, some of the best diving in the world. I was on a 10 day live aboard boat, and unfortunately, became ill, so i was only able to make 11 of the 36 dives. But i was able to get a few photos atleast. Here are a few teasers, the last 3 being my favorites:

Looks green to me too. nice capture of the elusive "green flash".

As the recent purchaser of a Nikonos IVa I was curious as to what camera equipment you used.

Great! I can't wait to see your stuff Justin.

I hope you're feeling better. Hopefully it was just "Bali belly" and not something more serious.

James

James

well i stayed away from the bali girls...or men....whatever they are, so im thinking it was just a week of diving followed by 3 days of air travel, and then diving again.

the pictures all seem to be dark on my desktop screen, while they seemed fine on my laptop (sony x-brite screen). anyone else noticing this?

You lucky SOB! I haven't been diving in over a year. Not even in a pool. :(

The "green flash" is supposedly caused as the suns corona is viewed at sunset. It occurs very briefly, and is a highlight of watching the sunset from on the ocean. Apparently the light spectrum is amplified at sunset, and if you are lucky you will get an intense green flash just as the sun disappears. I've only seen it twice. Some people even believe it is a myth, and just something our minds imagine......

Beautiful stuff. I'm not a diver, but it sure makes me pack things up and disappear for a few months.
