You know, it isn't the kit, it's what you do with it.

In photography more than many other areas, this is absolutely true.

Don't want to brag.... but I've got the gear that everyone should have...

It's light weight, easily transportable, and at an affordable price. ($19.95)

But that's a feature... The camera comes with the housing, you don't need a seperate $2k camera.

Just look at that beautiful viewfinder, exterior controls, and -at no extra cost- you get a handy carrying strap/cord.

I've not been here in a while, but a co-worker told me of this new U/W photo section of the TPF, so here's my contribution with my Nikon D200/Sea & Sea DX-D200 rig, leaving the photo of the packed gear to outline what I've got:

I moved to this from a nice, compact (by comparison) Nikonos V with the sweet UW-Nikkor 15mm lens. Originally thinking I'd sell it, I had 2nd thoughts later, but I'm again reconsidering that since I really doubt I'll be shooting much film and am already pushing the weight limits on carry-ons just with the digital housing and gear.

And if anyone is wondering why the detailed photo of the loaded backpack, that was for my own future reference and a Wetpixel forum discussion, as well as an exercise in trying to see what all I could organize into a carry-on. At the time, I was concerned about a 22-lb. limit for carry-ons with TACA airlines before a Sept. trip to Honduras. I was still over that limit at 32 pounds in the final bag configuration but, as with prior trips there where I'd never had my carry-on weighed, the same was true this time around. Thank goodness!

Daryl

Jazzdiver - okay, you suck. That's pretty much my dream rig - okay, except maybe add a Subal housing...

Very very nice setup.

Daylon,

I was lusting for a Subal housing, including strobe cases for two SB800 flashes, but common sense prevailed over how dedicated u/w strobes would be better overall and less expensive. I thought it would be nice if my strobes could do double-duty above and below water but once I decided against that approach, I started looking at more affordable housing options and Sea & Sea won out. I like this housing a lot...just wish I could dive enough to justify the total cost of the system.

Daryl
