These creatures are always intriguing...

They are not particularly skittish around divers, in fact this large cuttlefish was posing for a long time. Although I understand that when they raise their tentacles like this, they are feeling threatened (but he didn't move or flee). (Indonesia, 2006, Nikon D2Xs)

The 2 Caribbean squid were making a nest in a coral head, and would change colors as they moved close to the reef. Their eyes look like tin foil when the strobes reflect in them, no photoshopping there! (Taken at Little Cayman, in 2002 with Olympus 3030Z, 3.1 MP)

This tiny Flamboyant Cuttlefish was about the size of your thumb, and was moving across the volcanic sand, seemingly unaffected by our strobes. Videos of these guys show the coloration on their abdomen as moving stripes, undulating as they swim !! (Indonesia, 2006, Nikon D2Xs)

Great flamboyant cuttle photo! I'm jealous.

I'd love to do another trip to Indonesia as I've only been there once - to Bali. I need to get on a liveaboard soon, I'm dieing here! :-)

Did you use the 105 for all of these?

Cheers
James

James, thanks...I worked my 105 for 2 days, trying to get used to it, and found that my 60 worked better: The water was a little cloudy, and the 105 required too much water column between me and my subject, which included more of the particulate (which showed up as backscatter in the photos). Since the critters were mostly approachable, the 60 did a better job, with less photoshopping required.
