West Maui mountain drive from Kapalua to Wailuku
Haleakala drive to the crater
The 50 mile drive to Hana and back that takes almost all day
Ho'okipa
I'ao Valley
Almost any roadside state park on the beach
Honestly, almost any place you go on Maui has potential for a picture session

Or if you want something more comical... Go towards the touristy areas and look for all the honeymooning couples in matching hawaiian outfits... and even more drastic.. the "Just Mauied" matching t-shirts

lol

This is the "underwater" section, so I assume you mean underwater? I thought Honolua Bay on the NW side of the island was the best. It's a little murky at the shore, but once you get out into the water, it clears up and you'll definitely see sea turtles, tons of fish, etc. We followed an octopus around for about 10 minutes -- he was changing color and texture every time he settled onto a rock! That was just about the coolest thing I have ever witnessed from nature in person.

Have a look at our gallery from Maui gallery from '05. If you see a shot and you want to know where it is, feel free to post here or PM me.

Oh, and lock your doors and don't leave any valuables. I don't mean to scare you... it's not a dangerous place, but we did see broken glass evidence of break-ins.

Honolua Bay is ok, it's overrun with tour boats for the most part. Back side of Molokini is great for seeing pelagics if the weather is good. The west end of the inside of Molokini also holds promise. Lana'i for the Cathedrals. Don't waste your time on Turtle Town, it's overrun with tour boats also, and the reefs are almost dead from divers beating them down.

Officially it's Oheo Gulch which is past Hana. There's more than 7 pools

I have never been there... but hubby and I are attempting to make plans...
he has been there and was telling me about the 7pools past the road to Hana, I have seen "snapshots" of it... it is gorgeous...

hubby says that the road to hana it's self, has several photo opps, there are red sand beaches, and black sand beaches along the way!

The road to Hana is a special trip. There's opportunities at almost every turn, although most of the entrances to waterfalls on the roadside are boarded up due to owner's liability concerns. Black sand beach at Wainapanapa State Park, red sand beach at Hamoa just past Hana, Lindbergh's gravesite, I can go on and on. If you go to Oheo, check with the park ranger there to see if it's worthwhile hiking up to the waterfalls above the pools. It's a fairly easy hike, but if the water isn't flowing, don't make the trip.
The west Maui mountain drive from Kapalua to Wailuku is fairly easy drive, except some of the one lane parts from Kahakuloa to Wailuku. Those are HAIRY!

One more vote for the road to Hana! If you are asking about diving, the dive boat operators know the places to go, the water is quite clear. If you go soon you might have an opportunity to photograph whales up close. My daughter was there just two weeks ago and the whales were in heavy migration past Maui.

I think I would have had great shots at Molokini if I had not had a camera malfuntion. Got some U/W pics of a couple of beaches just snorkling. Lots of Turtles
