It's a great shot, the underwater section doesn't get much traffic it seems.

The shot is crystal clear with great lighting and awesome composition.

Great job and good find.

It is a great shot. Never done underwater photography but know the difficulties it brings. You did an awesome job.

Thanks everyone. Was kind of surprised it took this long to get any feedback. I was lining up to shoot the anemone the cleaner shrimp was in when the sand diver just landed in front of the camera and the shrimp swam out and started cleaning. Was extremely pleased with the way the shots turned out. Thanks again!

Great shot. I love how you captured the translucent-ness (is that a word?) of the scales.

I tried U/W photography once, rented a camera on a liveaboard for a week. That was enough for me. So how difficult is it? You need:
  • perfect buoyancy
  • excellent air consumption
  • a housing that's often more $$$ than the camera
  • two strobes (and each is pretty pricey too)
  • the ability to find a subject (this is non-trivial)

And remember you are taking all of this delicate electronic equipment and putting it in salt water. Back in the film days you only got 36 shots per dive (unless you want to carry a spare camera; I knew a fellow that did). All this and you have to always remember that you ain't the top of the food chain any more. (Just kidding - I never considered that an issue except when spear fishing.)
