I love Apple, but this part of it, is making me sad they are doing such a thing. Apple was all about listening to the people and letting us speak our mind and taking from that to make better any product with the Apple Stamp....

I can't help but wonder if this version might be a hint of Apple after SJ is gone. If so, then it's easy to see the effect of the man on the company. If I owned Apple stock I'd sell it the moment I got wind that he was leaving for good.

That has also gone through my mind.

I wonder where the company will go when he leaves.

The plot thickens....

Adobe just cut their prices 50% in response to fcpX release. That puts premiere pro right at $400. Right where apple is with fcpX and motion/compressor. I gotta do a little more research....

WOAH ... Adobe cut in Half ... or just Premiere?

If it's just Premiere ... I can see that they have to cut some funds to battle the demand.

HOLY SMOKES ... It's the WHOLE Adobe Creative SUITE for 50% off:

Adobe lures unhappy Final Cut Pro X users with half-price video editing tools--3CBang.com

I think Adobe has taken this advantage to it's full push. Nice job to Adobe.

Adobe is really taking advantage of this opportunity. I would have thought (and hoped) Avid would but they havn't gone out of their way to compete since killing their meridien line.

Hey all, great information. To those that use FCP or FCE have you used Adobe Premier too? If so which do you find easier to lean/ use. I am trying to get into video a little more with my 5D2 and I have CS4 Premier but it's quite challenging to learn. Maybe I am just going about it the wrong way... not sure.

Ray: if you were to put on a weekend class or something I would be very interested in attending just let me know how much and where/ when. I am sure if we had enough people maybe get a small conference room in a hotel or something.... (have no clue what those cost or if someone has a large enough studio in houston).

Great information all. Cheers.

I have Premiere Pro CS5. The learning curve wasn't too steep. I struggled with FCE a little. Video has different terminology and different requirements. The one that I violate most often is codec Select the wrong codec and your output is garbage

I used the tutorials for PPCS5 that are hosted on Lynda.com to learn what little that I know. It's a pay site and I probably could have used a myriad of free sites but the tutorials at Lynda.com are in a logical order and easy to use. I have yet to sit down and try to learn After Effects but that's next on the list to learn.

Vincent LaForet's blog has some good insight into the process of creating a video. His early works on Vimeo are amazing to watch. Especially his first two 5DMKII videos.

Hey Michael, thanks much for the info. I have the full sweet of CS4 so i'll probably stick with adobe then and push out trying to learn premier better. I saw that they also have the upgrades at 50% off till the end of October so I may just update to 5/5.5 now and start fresh. Hell I am still learning PScs4 from when I upgraded to it from CS2 lol.

Thanks again for the great info here. Cheers

I hear you. I have no where near mastered any editing software that I have. I have had Lightroom 3 from the the first time that it released and until recently I didn't use it for anything but downloading images from the memory card until I did a few of the tutorials. I just couldn't figure out how to get around in the software. I could edit but the edits wouldn't "stick" (CMD-S does that). Now it's my primary editing platform. I sound like a commercial for that site but man it's helped almost as much as some of the workshops that I've been to. LR3 is an extremely efficient way to edit plus I can hit CMD (ctrl on PC)E and take the image (raw or whatever) straight to CS5 for finish work.

Haha, I hear ya on LR3. I love that program. I used Bridge before I switched to LR and I do like LR a lot more. I do still get some errors when trying to open my RAW images into PS but I think it's just a bad update.

I think once I get back to dry land I'll upgrade to CS5.5 so I don't miss the upgrade ability and have to buy all out like last time. 50% off the current price is damn nice and the master collection only costing $550.00 right now is actually $50 cheaper than I got my CS4 master collection for.

I am deff going to have to check that site out you linked though when I get off and some free time. Sounds like a good addition to Kelby training videos I normally watch.
