Any decent MOV Editors out there? - 10-03-2009, 12:48 AM

Howdy folks,

I've been playing around with my 7D taking snapshots and some HD vid.

I'm liking the video a lot, so now, am wondering will the Apple QuickTime Pro be enough to edit the native MOV files? or should I look for something else?

If so, which one would you guys recommend?

I know there are a lot of 5D2 owners out here, maybe you guys have some experience with editing the video's you've taken?

Any help would be appreciated =)

- Marius

If you have a Mac iMovie should work. People scoff at iMovie, but I think it works great.

Quicktime Pro will do, but iMovie is much more versatile.
But if you really want to show out, there's Final Cut Studio.....

Wondering if Adobe Elements Premiere would do what you need / want? Do you have a sample .mov file you have made available to download some where?
I can download and try on Elements Premiere?

Downloading now...will let you know!

Peacock added 68 Minutes and 53 Seconds later...Double Post Merged Below

Alright, Adobe Premiere Elements will import and edit these files just fine! There are numerous options to save the finished edits even burn to DVD and Blueray if you have a Blueray Burner.

Will save or export to various HD formats, as well as web formats!

I am uploading file to my server now, will post link when done!

Nice capture Mark. I assume the camera was on a tripod? And what lens were you using?

I'm really liking the idea of movies + still images coupled with some awesome music. It really sets the tone.

I'll checkout iMovie too. I need to find some demo versions first before I make the purchase.

Well if it means coming up with a decent video then I will seriously consider a MacBook, something that I could bring during a wedding shoot and do on-the-spot video editting.

I just need to schedule all this expenses, man, photography and this time videography are seriously expensive hobbies.

In my main line of work our graphics guys are running Macs so no questions there, but as far as software and game development I still prefer the PC =)
