Sony - In-Works new Video Camera - 05-11-2010, 11:57 AM

I just saw this....you guys probably already know about this....but Sony is in the works to produce an HD camcorder that will use there new E-Mount lenses and with an adapter you can use Minolta/Sony MF or M-Mount lenses...which is quite cool....

Insane and small.

I wonder how it compares to the XDCAM Cameras.

Is that going to be considered Prosumer? Doesn't look like it has a lot of manual options.

A new question. The NX VX10 is out and apparently selling like hotcakes. Amazon has lens converters for this camcorder to fit Nikon and I guess Canon lenses instead of the E and A series Sonys for sell for $50. No further information is provided.

Has anyone purchased this camcorder and tried it with Nikon lenses? Is is autoindexing and automatic or completely manual? If automatic then it is awesome!! If not I believe it's only a short time until automatic features will be available. I'm just itching to use my Sigma 50-500mm on the VG10 for bird photography.

That's sweet. And for an adapter that is just 50 bucks is awesome also.

I might have to look into this.

Doug...if it is like the ones on ebay...it is manual all the way...the only AF adapter I know about is the Sony E to A....I seen some stuff on the internet where someone is trying to make AF adapters for this and the Oly Pen...

The MF adapter will let you adjust the aperture ring....

Just now looking at this camera ... I feel audio would be an issue and would have to have a separate audio device. No XLR Connections.

The aftermarket adapters are all manual. I have been using my NEX-5 with the Leica M adapter and was able to focus fairly well during video. I don't know how easy it would be with the camcorder version.

There was discussion on Sony making the E mount info available to developers, which in theory could lead to an aperture controlled if not AF Nikon or Canon adapter, at least for non-screw drive lenses, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

My A-mount SSM lenses do AF on my NEX with the LA-EA1 adapter. They are not blazing fast like they are on A-mount, but they do okay.
