Stuck/dead Pixels.. - 08-20-2010, 03:06 PM

Does anyone have a 5DMK2 (or 7D, or T2i) that does not show any stuck/hot pixels in video mode? Anyone at all? Do a quick shot at ISO800 or higher in a low light setting and pan around some dark objects. Let me know the results (maybe even post them online if you would).

My refurb had more than 32 stuck pixels in still mode, and one very bright blue one in all videos. I sent it back. FedEx just delivered the repaired camera. I'm down to 6 stuck pixels in stills at ISO6400 (which is fine by me, LR3 kills them all anyway) but there's still a stuck blue pixel in video.

Sample video @ ISO3200 7sec clip, renamed only.

I'm sending it back for a repeat repair (which Canon is generous enough to pay shipping on). This could rather easily be avoided if manual pixel mapping were included as a feature within the firmware. The same sort of issues with AF misses (despite having both lens and camera checking as "in spec") from thousands of users were addressed by allowing manual AF correction within the firmware.

Yes, it is still under warranty. It arrived in that condition so I sent it back. It returned in the same condition so I sent it back again. Hopefully by next week I know if it comes back that way again or if it comes back fixed.
