Recommendation on an HD Camcorder - 09-27-2010, 03:43 PM

I wanted to buy a handheld HD camcorder to take around on my trips to use without always having to lug around my DSLR. For things like my ski trips, rafting, camping, etc... I don't want to have to spend too much on one, budget is $300-$450?

Any recommendations? I do not want one of those flip ones that is the size of you phone though.

Thanks!

Sony makes a pretty nice one for around $450. You can find it on SonyStyle.com. I have a client with one that loves it.

Did you decide on one yet? Just looking for info myself. Have no idea about what the best buy would be.

I can't say enough good things about this one:
Zi8 Pocket Video Camera, Digital Video Camera, HD Video Camera - Kodak Online

There's not much of a zoom, but the HD picture quality is just great!

Sorry my recommendation is out of your budget. But I settled on the Sony HDR-XR500V! It's really nice. There are a few under that model and some that have come out after this one. It's about two years old, but has all of the features I was looking for. I think there are deals on the CX-350 series camera similar to this one. Good Luck!
