When I use to TD for some live gig a few years ago ... I had used to different types of machines.

The first one is a large TD board to a Trinity Switcher System that had a built in stream landline ethernet that would send off the live view to whomever had the IP address.

The second one is a smaller portable box called a StreamGenie, which I found out you could just buy the software for the StreamGenie and that would stream it. That system was not bigger than a large suitcase on wheels that had a blackmagic card I/O card for multiple things to be plugged in from industry standard BNC cables to consumer standard RCA plugs. And would also just have a dedicated IP address to send off the video in real time.

Are you looking for something low budget (I.e. Ustream or livestream)? One camera or multiple cameras? There are tons of options out there. It depends on budget and what you are trying to achieve.

I'm not sure what type of event you are straming so I'm not sure if this will be helpful or not. I've personally used ustream and livestream. All you need is a camera, a computer and Internet connection. Livestream has options for multiple cameras (need multiple computers each with Internet connection), graphics and will let you play back pre recorded videos.

Adobe has an expensive software for live streaming. There is also Liveu and streambox. If you have a feed source (i.e program out of a switcher) you can use a device like Canopus to get the video in to the computer for the software based streaming.

Again I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to do but hope this helps some
