Video Camera Classification - 01-11-2012, 04:21 PM

Is there a name for the new (to me) cell phone sized video cameras? Not a cell phone with a camera, but the ones that look like cell phones but are video cameras?

Which are considered the best?

Thanks,

You mean like the Kodak Playsport and the Panasonic DC-10?

My wife and I are looking at them for small video cameras for the kiddos games and plays.

But being a pro video guy, I really get nit-picky on what I want. But overall, I am actually liking the quality of the Kodak Playsport but the Panasonic DC-10 has better functionality and is more ergonomically correct so you are less tired when holding it for a long period of time.

Brand isn't important, just want the one with the best IQ.

I have the Playsport ZX5 and love it. To get my 7D out set it up and start recording it takes a while.

I have my playsport in my back pocket and I can go from off to record in about 10 seconds, maybe faster. Don't try to zoom ... it's ok but get real crappy the more you zoom. I use it to record a shoot so if I want to recall my set-up, it's easy.

Just having fun with my 7D & 5D mark II :-)
