I have been playing with DSLR video, nothing too serious yet but I have picked up a few things. I have the indiSYSTEM indiSLIDER mini for a slider. It is built a little different than the IGUS sliders but I like it and it was pretty cheap. The mounting puck for the camera works out fine for me so far. My biggest issue is not have a proper tripod to use with it, I have not bought a beefy video tripod yet.
I do have a Film City Matte Box and a set of rails with a mount for my camera to setup on my tripod. I have not gone to a full shoulder rig yet. Both of these came off of eBay. No issues, they do what they are supposed to and were not pricey. If I shoot handheld without the rails and matte box I have a monopod shoulder support that I attached a handle to the bottom for extra grip to help steady my shooting.
The best thing I picked up was a LCDVF viewfinder. I have a Canon T2i and it mounts perfectly with a magnetic frame around my lcd. Plenty of brands and fits out there for viewfinders but it is a great tool when not using an external monitor especially outside.
