monoprice.com

Greatest place for cables ever. I got my mini HDMI from them for next to nothing. They are top quality cables too.

All my home theater cables are from them.

Thanks for the help. I did not know there was such a thing as a mini HDMI cable. In the Canon manual they have a part number listed so I thought it propriatary to Canon. I can't wait to see what the videos look like so I hope Best Buy has them.

Just got one at Best Buy. Thanks for the info and the HD Video quality is amazing especially coming from a DSLR. I am going to order another from the website you recommended for sure Best Buy was 12X the price. Seriously!

No doubt. When I worked for BestBuy our discount on cables was ridiculous. That is there biggest profit item. I snagged a $30 USB cable from them (many years ago) for $3 with my discount. Monoprice's HDMI cables tested very favorably against Monster Cables in Monster's own test labs. I've bought HDMI, Spearer Wire, Banana plugs, Optic cables, Component Cables, Sub cables, headphone cables and who knows what else from Monoprice. I even got 300' of Monster like quality 14GA speaker wire for $59.

I use MonoPrice for all my cables as well...

So it's just a standard mini-HDMI cable for the 5DmkII huh? Cool. I need to order one.

Quick question.. While in Video Mode, does the HDMI output look good or is it still an ugly screen preview like with the RGB. (in other words, is it good enough for critical focus if connected to external monitor?)

I guess I was in a rush to buy it. Man they make a lot of money on these cables. I can always return it. Anywhere local cheap?

Not really. Fry's has regular HDMI cables at less than $10 sometimes. Monster cables and such are all about marketing. Digital is Digital. As long as all the data is getting to the other end, it performs the same. In the Analog days, better cabling made a difference.

For the record, Monoprice delivers fast. I have purchased a ton from them.

I have not tried it but I bet it is more than acceptable. I burned a DVD and I am quite pleased with the quality.

Now if I could just find a stand alone DVD recorder that will accept an HDMI input.

No doubt. I am watching for a new laptop with BD (Blu-ray Disc) burner for photo backups.
