Some notes:
Vimeo seems to be butchering your opening fade. 10 more frames of black at the beginning might help, or maybe not.
The two quick cuts at :07 seem to be lagging the soundtrack by a frame.
The slow motion of the runner at :35 is very, very nice, as is the man in the suit on the bicycle in ~ :50. However, you have three cuts on two beats at :51, which I find distracting.
The long shot at the party from 1:11 to 1:23 is very nice.
I felt the quick cuts around 1:58-2:00 should be synced with the snare, so that it cuts to the tracking shot around the car as the crash hits. You could either speed up the cuts or drop one of the shots.
I don't really like the shot at 2:12 from a technical perspective. The composition and framing would work for a still shot before the woman enters, but as soon as she does, she becomes the main subject, and she's OOF and cut off at the waist. The pan isn't your smoothest and, in my opinion, is too soon and too fast.
The transition at 2:45 - love it, love it. I wish I could frame-by-frame it.
I'm not sure about 2:55 - the other camera is right in the shot. I don't know if that was on purpose, but... it's not your best shot and the whip pan/dissolve isn't really helping. The frisbee shot immediately after it anticipates the throw; I wish I could see the actual throw, or that it had held on him during follow-through. As it is, I feel that you could lose that whole sequence and replace it with - oh, maybe more slow-motion running, or that gorgeous track bike from :43.
If you're going to end on a flurry of shots (not a doctrinal term), you might want to sync them up exactly with the snare (which would require about twice as many shots, but they're only up there for a frame or two, so it doesn't matter).
The logo is very nice. I'll repeat that: your logo is outstanding. I like it very much.
Overall - great! I'm mostly mentioning the nits because, well, this would be a page long if I mentioned each shot that I liked (which is damn near every one of them). I am, I must confess, a bit jealous of your equipment here - and your locations - and the light - and your talent, of course! - but overall, very nice work, Bryant. I see you're making a very good use of your time!
By the way - do you have a full music video for the rapper? I'm curious to hear what he sounds like. He certainly looked like he was enjoying himself. |
