a bit OT, but what took you to Dilley? That's old family territory, we have some property down there.

Work and only work That's one of our terminals.

Do you have the mineral rights? I'll give you about three fitty (cents) an acre for them... that's dead in the middle of the Eagle Ford Oil Shale boom.

just sold an option on 'em......;) they're wanting to drill early in 2012. the property has an old Austin Chalk well on it that produced for many years before it played out, provided enough for my grandmother to get a live-in nurse for her last several years. Me I'm just hoping I can goose the retirement acct a bit before I need to start using it. It won't replace the day job.....

They don't drill dry holes in the Eagle Ford shale. Ever. The stuff in the Dilley area is "oily" and it's sweet oil. You might be surprised at what it pays. We just built a 30,000 Bbl/day pump station south of Cotulla and are in the process of laying an oil line down to Corpus from there. It was the last of 5 pump stations that we built in 2011 and 2012 looks like it's going to be even busier.

We (the company that I work for not me) just sold our holdings in the shale for a few billion dollars... for those in the company that could invest in them (I didn't hire in soon enough) the return was 22:1... that's called a home run where I come from. We have our oil terminals (existing, new, and future) and we stand to do pretty well on those too.

Boom times are hard in the infrastructure though. Cooks are quitting to go drive trucks so restaurants are hurting and at the same time booming. It's interesting to watch it play out.
