New Portfolio Site - www.themajesticlandscape.com - 07-08-2010, 11:01 PM

For a while now I've been wanting to create a portfolio site to showcase my landscape work. I wanted something that looked a little more professional than a hobbyist photo-sharing gallery like pbase or flickr (I already have one of those). On the other hand I didn't want to put the time/money into a custom site right now. Zenfolio's premium service seemed to be the best option, allowing me to get a semi-custom site up with my own branding reasonably quickly and cheaply.

I wanted the layout/theme to be pretty simple, keeping the focus on the image themselves. There are some limitations in the Zenfolio theme designer, so it's not exactly what I wanted; but I'm reasonably happy with the result.

So take a look, feedback is welcome. How's the layout? Image selection? (too many/few, etc). Anything else?

The Majestic Landscape

Thanks!

Personally, I think it looks great! Having designed web site for several years prior to photography, I think your site works well in every respect.

Looks great. Very easy to navigate and nice classification of images. Sufficient to say the quality of the base images catalogued goes a long way, too.

Your site's visual design is not "super hip" but your images are outstanding but it's fast and easy to use so you got my vote! :-)

I think it looks terrific, Jeff....the site and the imagery.

My first reaction was simply - this guy knows how to shoot, and this website showcases his work well.

Stellar photo work throughout.

Well done.

Nice site, Jeff, it displays your work well. I like that it's clean and uncluttered, and you've done a nice job of editing it down to only great photos, plenty to look at, but not overwhelming.

If I can figure out what I photo I like best I might be ordering a large print from you, some of your photos are so calming.

Wow, your work immediately stands out above the website design, and I really like that. Your photos are stunning by the way.

Did you use some pre-packaged back-end to display the photos, or is the site all hand-coded?

Thanks for the comments everybody.

David - It's just a Zenfolio site, nothing hand-coded. With their premium account you can remove the Zenfolio branding and use a custom domain name.
