Ok, so I've been toying around in doing my own hosting lately. I have been debating on the 'landing page' to go with a gallery of images or in my current state, a landing album of each of the areas I'm interested in.

SlideshowPro Director
Adobe Dreamweaver
ProPhoto for the blog

Load times is what I'm concerned about, so let me know how long it takes for y'all.

Ken, it took about 20-30 seconds for the images to start showing on screen (I do have a fairly fast internet connection (FIOS).

picture on the left and right loaded in 1-2 seconds, the middle slideshow took another 4-5 seconds (which seems like forever these days)

my connection is Comcast @ 50Mbps

Mine took quite some time as well, probably more like 45 to 60 seconds for all of them.

When you say your own hosting what do you mean? Did you sign up for an account somewhere or is a box inside your home hosting this?

Lance - I have always had a web host for several other domains I manage, so I'm looking to utilize my existing account with the web host vs using Smugmug, Zenfolio, and the likes...

All - Thanks for the input, I had a feeling it was taking some time to load 10+ sec. I'll have to re-evaluate how to utilize the galleries/albums. I have another 'stream' of development for look and feel so, we'll see how it all integrates.
