I am putting together a new photoblog/gallery at

I am concerned about load speeds can I get you guys to check it out and see what you think. The only way I have to evaluate speed is over a vpn tunnel

I am offloading some of the heavy lifting for the site to S3 hopefully that will help

I've been looking around at it a little bit, and the background tends to load slower than the pictures in your galleries. It's not prohibitively slow though (I have DSL).

It is a little odd that the people gallery has a random foot sticking out of the right side of the page as I'm scrolling around. :)

I don't know much about websites, but I appreciate the lack of flash and the "Loading" page when I try to open it. Overall, I like it over the purple of you current site. Love the photo you selected for the background of the photoblog.

Yeah ... the foot ... I am going to have to find another background for that section :)

This is very much a work in progress so a bunch is likely to change ... except the main site for now ... I am kinda married to the purple but the site layout is up for change soon (it is over 3 years old and it is time for a facelift !)

Hey Dave,

Wordpress sites are notorious for slow load time since many of them load so much Java and many plugins record/post dynamic content constantly. I know the Supersized plugin used for the background image hogs resources since I've used it a time or 2. Something that might help is checking out this list of 11 ways to help speed up Wordpress: 11 Ways to Speed Up WordPress. If you're not comfortable using the WP Editor, some of this stuff may not work for you.

Wordpress is nowhere near as slow as Joomla!
3.2 is actually a lot better on speed according to the benchmarking. Hopefully that along with the offload to s3 will help

The site build is coming along it is live at this point and I am waiting for some feedback ... I just may migrate the whole site over to this layout - i kinda like it
