Hi everyone!

I just created a new website through http://websites-for-photography.com and am looking for some thoughts on it and the service.

My new website is:

Well, it's basically a Flash site but not really. If you load the front page, you see nothing but a few words and a big while blank space (if you surf with no flash plugin or on an iPad, iPhone, etc)

I'd recommend adding some more text on the home page and describing what the site is about. I'd also recommend a different font, as the one you're using looks too much like it belongs on a newspaper.

Not sure why there is so much space between the text at the top and the flash feature? Waste of a lot of valuable space.

If you don't consider yourself a pro then why is your website portraying you as one? You use the word photography in your name, you have a portfolio, you're selling images etc.. Personally, whether you're a pro or not, who cares...

I'd remove/re-write your about page and not mention what or how you shoot your stuff. Nobody really cares and you're basically making people think you're a rank amateur right out of the gate, simply by telling them that. No sense in that.

Sorry, don't mean to be too harsh, but I don't believe in sugar coating something that in my opinion is hurting your efforts.

Welcome to Pixtus, btw!

Thank you so very much Todd!

That was some of the best feedback I have gotten so far! You rock.

All your points seem very valid and I will be making the appropriate changes.

Once again Todd, I really appreciate you taking the time to look and respond.

All the best to you!

Cheers!
Steve

Glad you weren't offended.. I do websites for a living so I tend to cut right to the bone when diagnosing/reviewing sites.

I think you're got a good start and you're well on your way. Just don't belittle yourself or your talents. The great thing about the web is that you can easily make yourself much bigger than you really are. It's hard for visitors to really know, unless you explicitly tell them "Hey!, this is my first site and I'm not really very good".

If that's truly the case, let them figure that out on their own (obviously, you don't want that either - but that's why you're asking for feedback! )

Keep at it!

- Todd
