Hey guys and gals,
Working on my newly designed website and would really appreciate any and all comments.

There are a few things that still need to be done to it, I need to make it to where I have multiple galleries for my portfolio link as well as I am working on where on the front page if you click on one of the top photos it shows the full size photo in the window pane on the right.

This site was not designed by me but a very good friend of mines son in less than 2 weeks so if you want a quality website done I think I can hook you up with this young man.

As well as I would like to thank CARL (RAGES4CALM) for helping me with the Simpleviewer Galleries, YOUR AWESOME MAN.....

Anyway please let me know if you like the layout and anything else you think.

It sure does feel good to have a space in this world wide web of ours.....

Thanks for any and all comments.

Steve

Steve - I really don't have the expertise to give you an honest critique on your site but I do have a question. When I click on your URL and go to you site the actual web page loads to the right side of my screen. I have to scroll over to the right to see the entire page. Is this based on my computer settings?

Does the same for me, opens way right. Using Firefox 1.5.4. Now I'm off to go work on my site!

Yep, whatever you are using to place your content, it's not coming up center.

Are you using CSS or tables to layout your site?

Also, you have a ton of pictures in your simpleviewer gallery. You may want to trim that down just to showcase your absolute best photos.

Pepper,
Currently working on the sizing issue, and have e-mailed that info to my designer, so hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Clayton,
Thanks for the comment and as stated working on the screen size issue.

Jim,
Not 100% sure what he is using for the layout besides javascript, HTML and dreamweaver, the kid is GOOOD.... As far as the Galleries I am also working on that as well, I just wanted to see if anyone liked the layout and things of that nature.

There is still more to be done but was just wandering whether or not it looked good so far.

Thanks for taking the time to look and comment on the fixes.

Very much appreciated.

Steve

Hello:

Your code on your side has the following line in it.

<div id=layer1 style="position:absolute; top: 20px; left: 315px; z-index:3;">

The position absolute specifies the location on web page on the screen. The page will be located 20 px from the top and 315 px from the left. The 315 is why it is so far to the right.

The div should be postioned to be centered to to the left depending on the look you desire.

I like the way you are using simple viewer. However, On the initial view I saw a back arrow that is for the collection of photos instead of a foward arrow. This makes me feel like I am looking at your photos backwards. You might want to break your photos into categories like seniors, babies, families.

When I am looking at the picture I didn't see the back link. Maybe you can add another link near the photo in addition to the back at the top.

You might want to make the banner of photos at the top linkable to a category portfolio.

You do need to eliminate the space at the top and center it.

Over all it will provide a basic and easy way to let people know about your services.

More importantly you have some nice photos.

That's what I suspected, however I'm too lazy to dig through the code. :p

If I remeber correctly, to center a layer you use a margin-left:50% to get the left edge of the layer in the center, and then add left:-X, where X= 1/2 the total width of your layer.

So if the layer was 800 pixels wide, you would use:
<div id=layer1 style="position:absolute; top: 20px; margin-left:50%; left: -400px; z-index:3;">

Hope that helps...

All I do is the following

<body topmargin="0px" leftmargin="0px">
<div align="center">

Stuff

</div>
</body>

This (topmargin="0px" leftmargin="0px">) makes sure there is no space being added by default.

The div fits the screen and centers your stuff in the middle.

I set the width of the stuff with a table.

I have never tried doing it detonate's why. But then I am not sure I want to set myself on fire.
