I started out with a template and have done a lot of customization of the HTML and CSS to it over the past 10 months. Now that I've just about completed it and with a shopping cart, I'm thinking about changing it.

I currently use a black background with mainly black, white, and grays on my website thinking it would make my photos show up better. Now, I think changing it to something lighter such as a pale bluish color might be a good move. Since I'm currently doing mostly weddings and portraits and since it's mostly women who make the decision as to which photographer to go with, I'm thinking I need a more feminine look.

Anybody have any thoughts about this? I appreciate your comments. I usually ask my husband for his opinion on stuff like this, but I think in this case, he'd give me a potential male client's answer, not exactly what I'm looking for today.

Hm...maybe a nice powder blue or a nice plum color?

I thought I had clicked on About me since you had info about yourself on the main page.
Would it be possible to open up with a slideshow of images and save the intro for the About me page? Also, you may want to move your banner images at the top and bump your menu to the left/center.

I'm going to give you some color codes to try out in PS and see what you think:

FFD7D7 & 321203

DEE9FB(powder blue) & C4B59E (taupe)

8E7985 & C1B86D - i was thinking of changing my background to these colors for spring

Just some ideas :)

I had added that info at the bottom of the home page mostly for the search engines.

On my display, it makes the page look unbalanced. (viewing at 1028)

Are you just looking for color suggestions or an overall critique?

I just found your showit slideshow! That would look great for your intro since they let you customize & hide the menu options!
The colors in the images are great and would really capture a prospective clients attention! :)

If your worried about the search engines, you can still post your info on the index page but place it much lower and make your photos take center stage.

here's a quick mockup of what you could do w/ the light blue & a new menu color & embedding showit on the homepage. And your changing gif file could be placed at the top next your name if you keep it. PS helps to visualize new color :)

Hey, I like the way you did the logo on the pale blue. Similar to what I had in mind but I hadn't thought about changing the color of the word "photography". Very nice. I'm definitely gonna change that logo design.

I really like the added graphic you incorporate to your name at the end. Don't change that, it adds interest :)
