I feel like a broken record...
  • Lose the splash page. If I have to click to see "Enter Here" I'm out of here.
  • Lose the music or at least make it 'OFF' by default. If I see music, I'm out of here.
  • I don't care for Flash. It takes too long to load and I don't wait... I'm out of here.

Sorry, but you asked for MY feedback. I do like the colors and some of the photos. The photo on your kid page has her fingers cut off. I might find another photo.

I agree with Mike - I don't like splash pages that just have you click to enter - I'm lazy. And I didn't look around once the music began as I'm fairly certain you don't have permission to use that song - I don't want people to copy my work, so I do my best to respect music artists as well. If you do have permission from Mr. Urban, than please, accept my apologies!

I agree with Mike on the music issue. If you keep the splash page, put something on it to entice people to click through. Also, I don't like to see a stat counter. Check to see if your counter has the code to put one that's invisible on it. I know the one I use, Statcounter.com, has that option.

I was under the impression that if you bought the music from itunes you bought the rigths to play it????? I guess I could be wrong about that, I am not selling the music so what release would I need? I am a little confused about that since I purchased the download?

I think you have the right to listen to it for personal use but not for use as a soundtrack for a client's slideshow or for playing on a commercial site even if you give credit to the artist when you buy a song on iTunes. There are lots of places on the 'Net to buy music for use on websites. Check them out.

I definately appreciate the input but it doesn't sound like anyone is really definately sure I can't use it for music on a website? I will look into it but from a legal standpoint I don't know why it would be a problem if I am not selling the actual music????? if anyone else has a clear standpoint please let me know and where i can find the info.
What would the difference be if I got it from a different website to use on commercial website?

It's about the licensing and the money paid to the artist for the intended use.

Its the same principle in photography. You shoot a session, client pays for some prints and then the client now scans the photo and either prints more photos or puts the photo(s) on their website. While the client paid for the photos, you still own the rights. Unless they (the photographer) sell them the rights...it's against the law.

I am sure, which is why I commented about it. Give me a few minutes and I'll bring you back some links.

Punkydoodles, how can you say the music on my site is wrong but yet turn around and say this about another site??????? what is the difference?

I don't mind the music - if someone's music bothers me, I simply turn it off :) Although I don' t like it when the music changes w/ galleries!! And I agree w/ the blue on the splash - I can't see well and it was hard for me to read.

Yes, some may not know. Others, I'm sure they do know and simply just don't care... same way with photography clients. Still hunting good links, but this is a screen shot got from another thread so that you can get a better understanding.

food for thought!

because that music is listed on some royality-free sites. You can find good music out there, just have to purchase it. The song on my site costs me 20.00 a year.
