I like it...simple and to the point! No flash, which is excellent as some viewers might not be running DSL...I think over all, it's easy to navigate thru. Good work!

I agree with the above. The only thing I noticed and you may have done it on purpose is that once I click on Blog, Site or Client Gallery I can't get back to the main page or go to another part of your site without using the back button.

Thanks Jayson and Chris for taking the time to look.

Chris, I couldn't decide if i should open them in another window, or not. Personally, I'd rather have it open another window, but read somewhere that was annoying.

Also, how did the slide shows work on the home and gallery pages?? Did they start fast enough?

I don' necessarily have problems with second windows if I am going to a totally different area of a sight. I don't like it when everything opens a new window and I have to constantly keep closing them. As far as the speed question they opened quickly for me but I am on a T1 connection so take that with a grain of salt.

Nice job girl! You doing it all yourself? Possibly hittin' Brad up for some help?

Personally, and this is just my personal stance on the issue, I don't want customers who can't afford a high-speed internet connection. If they can't afford DSL, they can't afford my service. Just being honest.

Heather -

I love the design...a couple of points for potential improvement:

1) use the same top banner across the top of all three pages, and set the image as a hyperlink taking you back to your main page. It'll make navigation more natural...

2) On the main page : http://www.nixpixstudios.com/ - be sure to give the page a 'title' - so that browsers will display something about your site, and not just 'index' It doesn't have to be just the name of the page, but can be the name of your company, or a sales tagline, etc...

3) The text size you use on the main page has Blog larger than Site, which is larger than Client Gallery. You might want to make the center one (Site) larger, and the Blog/Client Gallery smaller...giving it more importance, and creating a 'pyramid' effect.

:)

Great job overall!!!

I went ahead and change it, so that it opens another window from that first page, but then you get into the site proper, I left it to open in the same window. I like it a lot better, Thanks!

Thanks Noel, Janice and Wil!!! I really appreciate you all taking the time to look.

Wil- I will confess, Brad did help me *some*. The design itself is mine, but he did help with the slide shows and how to do some of the things in html that I didn't know how to do. I'm using Yahoo for hosting and Yahoo Site Builder for the design.

Not sure I understand your relationship between Flash and DSL? Are you saying DSL is needed to view Flash? It's possible to have a Flash-based gallery control that would take less time to load over dial-up than one medium-quality image. Flash, when used correctly, can be very efficient and user-friendly.

You have a nifty banner.jpg that says in "Nix Pix Studios - Photography by Heather Nix" - it shows up on your Site page, and on your Client Gallery page...it just doesn't show up at the top of your Blog page...

:)

The pyramid concept looks great!

Heather,

The landing page is simple and the dark background helps the photos pop and direct the user's eyes. I had the same comments as Ken about the title and text size under the images.
