A Work in Progress

I have completely done away with my old website and started This One. Just about to understand how some of it works. If you don't mind, I'd appreciate your thoughts and comments. I've worked on the design off and on for a couple of weeks but just started uploading and cropping to fit the photos. I wasn't sure what look I wanted on the portrait mode photos so I just made two on one page.

The entry page has a place for a blog and I have one, there's just nothing on it...LOL. Maybe later but I want to build this portfolio site first.

The menu disappears on the black and white background image of the bird. Other than that, I like it...

Can you add a "hang time" on the menu so it doesn't disappear instantly when the mouse is moved off of it?

Thanks for looking Daniel. That's a background image At least thats what I think you saw...If the other images didn't fill the screen you would see more of it and it did until I figured the ratio for the full size images.
There may be a way to adjust "hang time" but it's beyond me.

Sorry Daniel. It's taken me this long to see what you're referring to on the "About Me" page. Looks like I need to either adjust that image or use something different. I think I'm getting a little of the same issue on the "Contact" page.

Anyone else care to share what weaknesses need to be addressed?
I've looked at it so much I don't see some things.

Watch your screen width. Back when I was designing sites for a living, I never designed for a browser window wider than 800px. Nowadays, 1024px wide is my limit. There are a lot of folks out there on laptops and/or small monitors, and many of them do not maximum the size of their browser window. Just something to keep in mind.

Okay John, now you have me wondering what it looks like on those monitors. Everything I have is wide screen including the laptop and I specifically made the photos 1200x2000 as per the template designer recommendation. Now I need to see what it looks like on a standard small monitor.

I think your name/banner is out of place compared to the rest of the site; it doesn't really fit the crispness of the rest of the site. I think it should match your font selection in the About Us/Contact section so there is some coherence.

But that would be easy David and I really worked hard to come up with that Logo/Name/Banner. I know what you're saying though. I still don't care for my logo. I need to hire someone to make one. Thanks for the comment.
