Question Rolling it out... - 10-07-2009, 05:26 PM

It may be a bit premature, but I'm rolling it out anyway. Its simple, perhaps juvenile, but it works for right now.

I'd like to hear back about the following:

1. How fast it loads on your computer
2. Any broken links, areas of information.
3. Misspellings etc.
4. Suggestions for improvements.
5. General thoughts or your personal opinions about the overall site.

Totally personal preference.... Initial thought (haven't been all the way through yet) I absolutley hate sites that open up full screen without warning. I'm talking about your blog link. The other one says it will open up full.

Take it for what it's worth. :)

I hope I'm the first one to say congratulations on the site.
It loaded quickly and was intuitive to negotiate.
Some people HATE music on web sites ( I love yours).
I'm undecided about the order of things, but that is a personal taste issue.

Good site. Hope you get lots of pets to shoot. More power to you. When the owners want to be naked with the pets we can team up.

1. Loaded pretty quick
2. Artist Bio page, you pictures fades to gray. Kid of hard on the eyes. Information has a drop down for pet sessions, was confused there for a minute i kept click information and nothing, then realized the drop down.
Don't limit your self to just pet sessions, I see in your blog you do other types of sessions, list those too!

Worked fine in IE and safari

Very nice, congrats on taking it live! :)

I too agree with the full screen deal... not a fan at all. I'd say drop the going full screen completely, there is no advantage in doing so other than maybe annoying some people... the content on your pages seem to be limited around 800ish pixels per side anyway.

The only other minor thing (maybe just my personal preference) is the quote+2dogs on the blog page. The font is not in tune with the rest of the pages and seems out of place.

Looking very nice, keep up the excellent work!

Thanks everyone! Way better response than I expected, but I definitely appreciate the direct answers.

I'll be adding a gallery for 'people' sessions later tonight or tomorrow. And on that 'pet session' information drop down thing, I made it a drop down because I am going to add the 'people portrait' pricing very soon. I can see where it would be confusing though!

I do have the option of eliminating the 'full screen' option on the home page. And all of my website pics are 640x425 so I guess there really isn't a need for full size anyway is there. Good point, I'll take it into consideration. I save everything for webposting at 100dpi, 640x425, and 'medium' file size, usually 80 to 100kb.

Oh... and Tom, if you like that kind of jazz, then we'd get along GREAT! I am such a jazz/smooth jazz enthusiast. Listen to it all day at work.

i like it. and your business plan make me laugh...i really do hope it works out for you though.

1. loaded fine for me at work.
2. saw no broken links
3. didn't really check
4. i agree with tom that the order is a little off. i would change around. other thing is on the tab at the top it says portfoliositez.com and not images by chris coy...i would lose the home page/splash page, whatever you want to call it if you can.
5. i like the music!!

looks good and congrats!!

Business plan as in pet photography in general, or business plan as in price list?

i thought i saw in your logo thread about targeting a demographic that you cited has a lot of disposable income? just that, nothing wrong with the other stuff...nothing wrong with your business plan as i understand it either. i thought it was rather clever.
