First timer SmugMug - 11-16-2009, 09:53 PM

I just won for one year free SmugMug Pro account from MCP Actions contest. Look like I won't be winning for a free custom website by JR as much I need it. Anyway, I wanted to know how this smugmug works if I can try to make my own website like my own kind templates, is there a way link you can lead me to? Let me know. Thanks!

Of course, you can ask questions in the sponsor section and they'll answer, they also have a forum with a pretty informative community, here is a link to their tutorial. Hope this helps.

If you want to do more than just the basic templates, you are probably going to have to do some html/css work behind the scenes. But don't worry - it is pretty easy and there are good guides to walk you through just about whatever you want to do. So the first thing to do would be to pick a template that is close to what you want it to look like and then figure out what you want to change. Then hit dgrin and search for that (like adding a blog, or hiding some text, or...). Or post here in the SmugMug forum and help will come.

I never had the time to study CSS and HTML to customize mine the way I wanted to. They make it a little easier with the new easy customizer, but I pretty much just use my SM for photo storage and print purchasing and sharing.
My main website is Flash and client galleries get linked to my smugmug.

But yeah, the HTML involved is pretty overwhelming.
