I need some feedback and input from photographers regarding a website idea I've been bouncing around.
Collaborative/Community Photo Post Processing
This is how it works.
- First you decide on a few original photos/artwork that you want post processed by others/community. You upload them to the site (eg. RAW file, PSD, JPEG, etc)
- Other users can view uploaded photos/artwork in a gallery format.
- If another user wants to work on a photo/artwork, they download the uploaded photo (eg. RAW file) and do Lightroom/Photoshop/Editing/magic! When their finished, they uploaded it back to the site (but specify the original work).
When a user uploads a modified work, it will be uploaded and the relationship to the original work is recorded (so for any given work, you can follow it's derivative works and parent works, like a ancestry tree). I got the idea from github/version control... except instead of source code, this is for photos. In a way, this would allow for open source photos and artwork.
Of course you don't want to upload all your RAW files, but just a handful of them that you wouldn't mind letting loose to see what comes out of them. I am open for more ideas to integrate in to this, changes, feedback/comments/criticism. Hopefully I'll catch some free time to work on this soon.
