Blog themes... - 01-28-2010, 03:22 PM

Aside from Profoto's $199 blog theme that EVERYONE seems to have, I have only been able to find one other company called PhotoPressPro that offers fully built templates for WordPress blogs.

Does anyone know of any other fully built themes that come with 'dashboards' for customization?

I currently have the Tofurious theme, but I dont like that I have to FTP everything and then change the html code. And most of the other free themes either had advertisments or dont offer much customization.

I know in Wordpress you can search for templates with "Theme Options". There are very few free ones that offer a lot of customization. The theme on my blog is pretty popular with good options and control called "Suffusion"

NextGEN Gallery plugin is great for making a standard wordpress template work better with photos, everything can be done through the dashboard and if you know a bit of code you can customize it fairly easily. I use it on my website using a regular blog theme that I've customized a bit. Took a while to set up, but now it's super easy to update.

Also, I think there is a Zenfolio plugin as well, but since I've yet to try Zenfolio I haven't tried it. Might be worth looking into though.

Chris,

Check out this blog post I made... well, it's more of a "shout out" than anything else... but I love their themes! "Super Star Themes".

I am totally in love with my ProPhoto Blog. They just released version 3 and let me say WOW! This thing does it all and it does it well. Customization is nearly unlimited and everything is done with sliders, buttons, and numbers.

In the new release, ProPhoto added embedded slideshows with music and lightbox galleries. Creating these slideshows and lightbox galleries are as easy as clicking two buttons and typing in some text.

I know about the other two ProPhoto look-a-likes, TOFURIOUS and PhotoPressPro, but to be honest, they have a ways to go.

We went with PhotoPressPro, and we are loving it. The 'dashboard' makes it very easy to update/customize, and the options are endless.
