I don't quite understand the question. Both links you have given end up at the same page. At least on my system.

Can you go into a bit more detail?

Either do it through the Hostagator domain forwarding or use a frame.

(found online)

Quote:
You should have a default page that is loaded when people go to your site (default.htm, index.htm, or something like that).

Make that page a frameset such as (<> replaced with []):
[frameset rows="100%"]
[frame src="start.htm" name="main" frameborder="no"]
[/frameset]

Where start.htm (or .jsp) OR login.jsp OR Whatever is the page you want users to see when they hit your site. When you click any links within the framed page, the content will load into the page, but the URL in the address bar will not change. You can see an example of what I mean at Damato.Net.

Why don't you just change the welcome.html page to index.html in your root directory?

He probably wants the root URL to mask all pages...

Though iWeb is very limited, I know you can tell it to export a file with just index.html

You need the file to be index.html for the front of site to read it.

Mapping the top level URL to ALL pages on the site is definitely not a web development best practice.

For one thing it prevents the user from bookmarking pages within your site. I assume that it also has a negative impact on your SEO potential, although I'm far from expert in that area.

What do you hope to gain by doing this?

Well with all of them mapping to the top level it would definitely hurt it with the search engines since only one page would ever be indexed. Also apparently something is already redirecting from index.html to the page that it currently goes to. I'm not sure why you like the directory structure the way you have it setup.

I want to See arcusav.com on every page instead of arcusav.com/Arcus_Media/whateverpage.html

arcusav.com/Arcus_Media/Welcome.html = arcusav.com
arcusav.com/Arcus_Media/Arcus_Media.html = arcusav.com
arcusav.com/Arcus_Media/Services.html = arcusav.com
arcusav.com/Arcus_Media/Portfolio.html = arcusav.com
arcusav.com/Arcus_Media/About_Arcus_Media.html = arcusav.com
arcusav.com/Arcus_Media/Testimonials.html = arcusav.com
arcusav.com/Arcus_Media/Contact.html = arcusav.com

do you get what i am trying to say?

Just think it would look more professional?

Actually that's not very professional at all and it's completely against the standards. Usually you want the page to be something where people know where they are going. If you have all your pages just say arcusay.com, how would they know how to access your contact page or our portfolio page or your services page directly? I think having your Arcus_Media directory is not needed, but I would definitely keep the full page names.

Make it all text

In all seriousness, if you want a professional website, you should get a professional to design and build it for you.
