Revamping Website, are these photos too erotica for a "Glam" section? *NWS* - 07-18-2010, 11:49 PM

So I'm revamping my website. Going to expand from 5 categories to 10. They will be the following.

- Action
- Artistic
- Creative
- Event
- Fashion
- Glamour
- Headshots
- Life
- Nature
- Urban

So now I have a dilemma, I have certain photos which I would say are a bit more erotic in nature. Now I don't want to have a boudoir, lingerie or erotica section on my site so I need some advice.

Below I've posted 8 sample photos. The first 4 I would say should easily fall into a "glam" section. Now the last 4 images I'm not sure. Are they too erotic or not tasteful for the section or are they ok? Should I leave images like #7 and #8 off all together?

Sample Photos

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

6.

7.

8.

I'll say first that I think it is a mistake to include a glamour section along with
your family friendly images.
It will turn family image seekers away.

But, if you are going to include a glamour section then I think the answer is
No, they're not to racey.

Hmm, good point. Perhaps I can just password protect it.

From feedback here along with a few other forums, seems like the last image is a tad bit too sexual. Anyway, gotta walk that tight line were you don't turn off potential clients so will pick and choose images wisely.

Shots like #8 for sure won't make it, still on the fence about shots like #7. Really need a woman's perspective here...

Ok...woman's point of view. not 7. Boudoir by a woman is to make the client look and feel great. These come across by a guy for a guy, not so much glam as maxim. Just my 2 cents.

My advice: have two websites and/or domains. You don't want your family stuff mingling with your adult stuff.

My 'edit photos' says no; but because there is no "sometimes" option.

I agree with Damon. My boudoir stuff is actually more "glam" in that it is rated PG for sure. Your stuff is great but says something different about your than family photographer.

My $.02 as a woman (much like what Charlotte said) would be that you don't want something that says "hoochie" up either. As a mom of 2 in my mid-30s I would immediately move on b/c there is no way I can identify with your models.

I think some good rules about the line between too racy and not are 1. Is there a face? The booty shot might be a little too risqué. 2. Would I show this to someone in mixed company? I might be old fashioned but I don't think I'd show your last picture to a girlfriend while our kids play in the living room or co-worker over coffee.

finally --re #7. I just don't like her face (see--i went to the face first) She looks mad/sad/tired/hungover/ticked off. and that one piece of hair in the middle of her back looks like a tail. I think #3 and #4 are much stronger shots.

Really I don't see these falling into glam at all, glamour deals with makeup and certain styles of lighting not just scantily clad young women. You can actually have glam with a 70 year old woman fully clothed if done right.

The photos that you posted are more along the Maxim route and not Vogue.

I would just set up a seperate website for this work.
