Help - FTP/web techie question - 11-21-2010, 08:00 PM

I am used to using a tool like FileZilla to go after files on a server. But a client game me a url without logon info. Just a subfolder on the wesite, no password. I can use a browser to see the files. But I can't possibly dowload the number of files using the browser. What protocol do I tell FileZilla, ports, and other stuff?

Sorry, this one is just a little different for me.

You're not likely going to be able to connect to the directory via FTP without credentials. Best bet is trying a program to download all files on a website such as DownThemAll!

Username is Anonymous, password should be any valid email. Or you can check the box in the Filezilla host window for Anonymous. If you can see the files in the browser, anonymous will work. That's what the browser uses.

This was quite confusing a process, but between your hints, my son, and the eval copy of WS FTP Pro, we figured this out. Apparently the HTTP option on the software lets me get at the files I need without usernames and passwords and still preserve the directory structure.
