My new website - 04-07-2011, 12:08 AM

Please take a look at my new website and feel free to comment and tell me what you think. I used JR Customizations, one of Smug Mug's certified customizers to design it. We are still undecided on the background so not sure if the nature looking digital paper is staying yet or not.

cool, the only thing that is hard to read is your nav bar with that color.....
I would chose a dark color or a different color to make it easier on your clients or you might loos some cause it's hard to READ.

but it looks good!

later.

Hey Kara, on your portfolio link it takes you to a gallery where you can purchase images. Is this meant to be a "private" gallery for your clients? I just clicked on maternity, then selected the first image and was able to view pricing, may want to have your portfolio separate from a buying gallery since your clients may not want any weirdo off the 'net able to buy a print of them.... though, I guess it'd be better than right click steal it, lol!

Hmmmm I will check that out...yes I have been told of the font color.. they are changing it tomorrow... thanks for letting me know though. I thought it might have only been an issue with one or two people.

I will need to check out the buying of the pics on the portfolio stuff! I will look at my settings right now!

The background is loading awfully slow which leaves you with a beige background at first making the light blue text/navigation unreadable.

Agree on the nav bar, but...I like it. Clean, well organized. Did you design it yourself, or use a template? Wondering as I'm working on one for myself - currently using iWeb, but looking at all possibilities.

Redneck....I agree...since adding the decorative background, it is slow loading for me too. I'm going to tell them about it.

Charles....I did not design this site....I have done a couple html sites myself but not this one. JR Customizations did this one for me. They specifically design smug mug sites to look like regular websites.

Ok...transition screen has been changed to white and the background should now load quicker and if there is any delay the white should be a much smoother transition. The font color was changed to a darker teal color and seems much more readable. Please tell me if you are seeing the changes and think they are better. :)

BG is loading pretty slow for me still. I'm not sure I'd use sepia pictures with a yellowy background. Either use full color or B&W pics for slideshow if you're going to use that bg. the use of two variances of yellows next to each other isn't appealing. i would also suggest having your background to your blog match your site as much as possible. but for a smugmug site, which i had as well, back in the day.. its not bad.

Hmmm...it's loading immediately for me and several of my friends now too. Not sure what the deal is Heather.

They are showing my website off at Sandy Puc's Power of Passion workshop today.

LouDog, I wish I had the skills to do this, something like this would take me months. A company that Smug Mug recommends did this for me...JR Customizations.

Heather, I totally agree on the blog issue...I created the blog myself on blogspot and will have to try to make the background match now. I didn't want to pay the extra $$ to have them customize my blog.
