I have some of the same little nit picks (though sometimes I cant always put my finger on it I can tell its not right) , and I am hoping that when I pass it off to the designer to clean up and finish, these things will be taken care of.

Thank you for your help.

2. The J is lost, the angle of the font make it seem like it is just part of the logo, not the start of the name.

3. I do not like the g and h overlapping. It adds to the busy feel of the logo, for me this style of logo is about simplicity, part of that for the time was how neon signs are created overlap would have been a big deal, but it did make the feel.

4. "Photography" just looks like it was thrown in, I would change the space between the letters a bit more. Make it it's own element and not an afterthought.

On that the spacing feels off on the logo, the ' looks too high, the S sticks too far out, the J probably not enough, the circle needs to go inside the letters...

Logos are easy to nit pick... I am in the middle of 3 logo designs right now and HATE it. What one person likes 10 others will not. I think yours has a lot of potential but needs a bit of work. I like the feel of it, older, good values, something you can trust.

I figured as much, just wanted to throw it out there. If you nit pick it yourself you might drive yourself crazy, if someone else hits the nail on the head as to what you were thinking then maybe there is something to it.

Like I said, I like the feel, a few small tweaks and you should be good. IMO.

OK, I've finally figured it out! This whole "Big John" thing. After viewing your website and repeating the name, I just couldn't quite put my finger on it; couldn't get it out of my mind. Then it hit me.

Just sayin'. : )

..... Um, OK, I'll just go away now.

I appreciate that. I found it freakisly funny, as I had never seen the SNL reference.

My homage to all the axe men. HACK HACK HACK!

For those of us still following along...
I havent put much time into this... obviously, but I would like to explore having a more horizontal, as well as a more square look (like my previous one)

Just wondering if anyone wanted to give any suggestions to this option as well.

I was playing around with it tonight and had a difficult time with making the concept look good on a black background though, which was discouraging.

Overall, I like the logo. I don't know if it's just me, and this is just being nit-picky, but "John's" seems to be slanted at a slightly different angle than "Big." Just enough to bother my OCD.

Ok for those of you still following along, I have 2 drafts to show you.

I am partial to the round one, mostly because it already fits in where my old logo will go, and I'm just drawn to it. I really like the long one, issue being it simply won't fit where I would need it to fit.

Also needing opinions on dropping the "s" from the logo. I like it without the s, but have concerns due to the domain name having the s.

Thanks!

I like the first one as well, it's got a nice retro feel to it. I think the typography needs a bit of tightening up (too big of a space between the B and ig).

The second doesn't do much for me, and I don't like the extra black line.
