SEO help

So I have a bit of experience integrating some VERY BASIC SEO into a couple html websites I made while in school but now that I have my custom SmugMug site I am not sure how to improve SEO within it's format.

Is there someone who does this OR how do I go about improving mine?

I took a look at that link and I have to add. The key to high search engine rankings are backlinks. The information above applies to on-page SEO, not off-page. Extensive keyword research needs to be done then links must be created through a wide range of methods. It is very possible to rank high without on-page SEO as mentioned above.

If it were that easy, everyone will be on page one of Google. Why do you think SEO salaries range from 40K to 80K per year?
