I'm about fed up with our current web host provider and looking for a new one. Bluehost was recommended. What is your opinion or feedback?

I used it for an organization for about 2 years, who had been using it for years before me. No problems whatsoever. seemed pretty streamlined with their CPanel and all that.

I've used Bluehost for 18 months. They are cheap but not very reliable IMO. Lot's of downtimes with grey screen error messages, mostly generated by high traffic.

I've had Bluehost and I'm happy but I don't get a ton of traffic.

Hostgator is local to me (Austin) and I hear lots of folks who use them like them. Good customer service. They must be doing well because they have lots of "do you know Linux?" job billboards around town.

I used phpwebhosting.com for a long time...had few issues and for 9.95 mo you get unlimited email accounts, unlimited space and unlimitied bandwidth...the only issue was when there was a prob..they dont have live customer help...you gotta access them via email and wait for a return...but it wasnt that bad!!!

Thanks for the feedback folks.

I'm currently with Eleven2 and at the end of my rope with their lack of responsibility. My WordPress blog website has infected files (possible malware or a virus). Eleven2 says they scanned my entire site multiple times and find nothing. Then they tell me contact to Google or wait for Google bots will flush their DB. Although it's only my blog that is infected Google blocked both my website and blog site.

I have followed Google's instructions to clean infected files, at least the ones I can find. Once I do that I request a site review and wait for a day. The review comes back at still finds infected files.

This has happened before with Eleven2. Last time it was an actual virus that they denied happened.

At the moment I'm at a loss. I don't know what to do next. I guess I need to find a company that specializes in cleaning up infected websites.

I guess I'm old fashioned... :)
I started in the mid eighties with Network Solutions, and I'm still with them today. Well, I confess that I did not shop around at the time, but I have been fortunate with their services.
Really they have been a good hosting service. Whenever there is a discount available they call or e-mail and let you know so you can save $$$ by extending a few extra years at low price, or buying extra space. If you need help and call their #, you get to speak to a live human being right away, and they work on your package to solve the problem in minutes.
I have been happy with their service for decades and would not change web hosting for the world.
Granted, they are maybe a bit more expensive compared to the various 'free-domain-free-hosting-discounted-template' providers that seem to be born everyday on the net - but they are a good reliable company. They do not offer fancy web-ready templates, so if you want something nice you have to pretty much build up your own website by yourself (or hire a web designer), but the overall hosting service is worth it.
