pdf hyperlink problems - 02-10-2007, 09:23 AM

Ok, so I know nothing about websites, but I managed to figure out how to create a pdf file (in photoshop) and then add a pdf file link on my site. I used front page to edit my site and in the "preview" section the pdf file does everything its suppose to. HOWEVER, when I try to open the file directly from my site, it causes FireFox and Explorer to crash or it won't even show up.

Anyone have this problem before?

If you want to take a look you can go to:

http.//mmperspectives.com/pricing.php and try and open the wedding price guide and the senior & portrait price guide and see if it works for you.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Works just fine for me. I'm using Mac OS X with Safari as the web browser.

Thats crazy, firefox and exporer are still crashing on me when I click on the links. I have cleared my cache, closed out everything, and it still is giving me the "not responding" B.S.

Arg, well I guess what matters is that it is working for everyone else.

Monique: check that you have the latest updates installed for the PDF reader.

You're on WinD'ohs, right? Have you rebooted and tried it again? I used to have trouble with Adobe Reader hanging after viewing a document on the M$ box I had to use at work.

Meanwhile, I'll try it in Firefox myself.....

EDIT: It works fine in Firefox for me, too.....

and see if any files are missing

There could be a small window open asking you to update to the latest version, and it's waiting for you to click Yes or No, and until you do I think it says the application is not responding. I'm not totally sure if it says not responding in this scenario or not. Try closing every other application on your computer. That little feature of Aobe Reader drives me nuts and occassionally when a doc won't open, I forget that's what's happening. There is a little window waiting for me to do something but it's hard to find.

Don't open both at once on a slow internet connection--that might choke your computer. I'm on a very fast campus network, so speed is not an issue for me...
