i found some ready made templates available for sale- anyone used them with success? Please enlighten me either way..... is it correct to asume you download and cutomize in MS front page or publisher..... what do you guys think?

depends upon what type of site they are for... flash templates, wordpress, typepad, other??

most are flash, and come with html code as well.

And some flash designs do not allow you to change their content unless you have Macromedia & know how to tweak it.

I used the photon template off of www.flashvillage.com (had some tweaks done to it)
They have tutorials to help you along. You do have to have a flash software.

Flash templates almost always require you to have Adobe Flash (the creator, not reader). I would suggest staying away from any flash templates. Search engines do not index them properly, if at all. Also, if you can use Flash you wont need a template, trust me flash is not as intuitive as you may think; at least not for me.

I would say if your going to go with a prefabricated template, stick with plain HTML. I always use Dreamweaver CS3 to edit, in my opinion it is the best web development tool you will ever use.
