Go to joomla.org and under the extensions go to image galleries they have a few good extensions in there but most of the real good ones are commercial so you will need topay for them.. But I was a joomla user for the past 3 years and I have to say get out and use wordpress or Drupal.. much better...

Also +1 for WP.
Thanks for the link - will check it out as I am redoing the galleries and gallery structure on 2 WP sites.

I would honestly avoid Joomla at all costs.

This one is good: http://gallery.menalto.com/

Coppermine is good, but a bit outdated in my opinion.

Gallery 2 is really full featured but I have abandoned it due to it being a true resource hog. It is just way too slow to be any kind of useful in my opinion. You can certainly try it on your host and see if you have better luck with it.

I haven't found a decent gallery plugin for Wordpress yet and the same goes for Drupal. As much as I have to agree with others about Joomla being a terrible cluster of code and I would not touch it with a 10 foot pole myself, it seems to work for non-techie people who don't care about having that true custom look and feel and have no requirements to customize it in any way or form. A friend of mine uses it with some gallery module with great success on his website.

Since you're already using Joomla I'd try to find a module for that first and see if it fits your needs.

FWIW I wrote my own gallery code to display my portfolio on my website as I couldn't find any that did what I wanted. For client viewing and ordering I have decided to hire the pros and go with Zenfolio. I just couldn't see myself writing all that code...

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Thank you for all the respond. I am shocked to hear that Joomla wasn't that great. I will check it out that you guys was telling me about gallery. Thanks again! I just can't afford to get pros to do my work just yet as I am not booking any clients yet. Thanks again.

I have a joomla site, and it seems that the slowest load times happen on the frontpage.
this is a new mens magazine we are working on.
