Canvas/Mat board - 06-09-2009, 01:47 PM

Hey everyone, I have a client that is wanting a 16x20 of one of the photos I shot on a canvas. She explained it to me like this... It looks like it's on a mat board but the print is canvas. There aren't any borders just a photo on a thin board but the photos is a canvas print. Does anyone know where I could find something like this. I checked Canvas on Demand and she said that the thinnest they make the canvas is .75 and my customer is wanting something thinner than that. Please Help! Thanks again, you all always pull through for me! -Ashley

This is confusing. She wants a REAL canvas print? But mounted on a board? The thinness is what is so confusing, cause if you mount it on a board it will be thicker.

I know it's confusing to me too! It may not be on a mat board but it's thin enough to put in a frame.

Mat board can be mounted in a frame. I am sure that any of printing companies could do this, but it might be a special request. BWC in Dallas might do it but you would have to call and explain what you want.

Maybe it was the type of paper is was printed on that gave her the "impression" it was canvas? Maybe it was on Linen paper?

Hey David it could have been. I'll google linen paper and see if that's what it looked like.

You might want to check WHCC. They have mounting options available for "Fine Art Canvas Prints," including styrene, masonite, foamboard, and stretcher frame.

I know Pounds Labs in Dallas, and a lot of labs mount photographs on canvas that is bonded to many "thin" backings. They strip off the plastic backing of the photographic paper, then mount it on cardboard or Masonite. Looks like a canvas print but is a thin mount. I have been using it for 25 years.
