Help with a decision needed kinda quick on sample album - 08-06-2009, 11:23 AM

HELP!

I am having a studio sample (50pg 25spreads) graphistudio album made and I am torn and I only have this week to make the decision (have a coupon.. lol). Do I want to do a sampling of all my work or if I want to do a single wedding?

I know I'd like to have both, but I just can't afford that right now to get it here in time for a Sept 20 bridal fair.

So what do yall think would be better to have out on display to excite brides and book clients?

1. a book that has a sampling of my best work from many weddings with images from bridals, getting ready, details, venues, formals, etc.

2. a book from one wedding begining to end.

Mel if I was looking to book you and you only had one album I would want to see a beginning to end and not just a book of your best images. I would want to know that I am going to get a book full of really good shots and maybe a couple of great ones from my wedding if I hire you.

My .02 YMMV

I agree with Chris. I'd make the album a complete wedding – to show off your skills and also give an example of what a couple would get with an album. Then have a separate portfolio that showcases your best work from several weddings.

One wedding, not many. If you have only a few shots from each, I would wonder if you could do a whole wedding.

I would do the entire wedding. My question to you is, WHY Graphi Studio??? Their quality is terrible and we have completely dropped them as an offering. Long waits for products, albums falling apart when they arrive and poor, poor customer service on repairs. And we do alot of albums!

Your the first I've heard say that. When I researched them a while back I didn't see any negitive remarks about them anywhere.

I know several large studios that no longer offer them, for the same reasons we no longer do. I do know that the Man that introduced them in the US Tomas Ramos (Houston) NO LONGER carries them in his studio because of the issues mentioned. My boss knows Tomas Ramos personally and he told her they dropped them.

We have three sample albums (hidden from sight) that we use as example of why NOT to buy Graphi Studio. Hope you have better luck then we did.

I know someone else whose sample album fell apart - images peeling off pages and they told her it was not a warranty item.

Maybe that's why they're offering the coupon (not really, as even reputable firms do this to get samples out there).

We have had great success with Forbeyon and our original sample is over eight years old. It has survived eight bridal shows and lots of wedding consults and still looks great. And they are a Texas company. Call them and see what kind of deal they have on sample albums. They even sent us a couple of loaner books while ours was being created.

Thats what this deal is - since it's my first sample with them i am getting a pretty decent discount. they, like all album companies I looked at, offered discounts for studio samples. This is just a bigger discount since it is the first.
