How crazy is this?

A lady wants to meet with me about shooting her wedding. She suggests a date that I'm already booked on and give her an alternative date.

She tells me she's not sure what time, because she's coming in from out of state to get HER ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS done by another photog.

Um, ok am I weird to want to ask her why this other shooter isn't doing her wedding? Is she going to be a time waster? What the hell kind of reply is that?

well i know for me i would feel comfortable to shoot here engagement pics but when it came time for wedding stuff i would tell she needs a pro like my uncle..... so i can see the mix up on both your parts, she might not be a time waister, i think any one interested in giving you the time of day to inquire about your services is time well spent, you just need to sell it

no. ask her. ive had brides who were gifted the engagement photos by great granny and that photog wasnt the style the bride wanted for the wedding, so she hired us.

As you know, shooting any kind of portrait is a lot different than shooting a wedding. Could be a portrait photographer they knew or were referred to, who then told the bride he/she wouldn't/couldn't/shouldn't photograph the wedding, too. Only one way to find out!

Yeah, there could be any number of reasons why this photog isn't doing the wedding. This lady's money is green just like everyone else's, right?

I've booked a number of weddings after they got their engagements done from another photographer and the couple wasn't pleased.
