Our second shooteres use our cards and they give them to us before the evening is over with. We then provide them a disk with everything they shot. But they are not alllowed to use them on their website, facebook, or blog. They can use them in a portfolio but with the tag line that they were shooting for us.

Tom - Some of us have a lot of experience and just choose to second shoot to avoid all the BS that is associated with the wedding biz. Been there done that.

I'm surprised no one has said anything about a memory card uploader..... You can get up to 80 gigs and they even have some with a 3in screen. I have this one http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...ge_Viewer.html

Upload your pictures at the end of the night, no need for a laptop.

Do what's smart for your business. The OP took a risk and it didn't work out.

Primary - Do whatever you need to do to get the images. Upload on site. Or pay the second half up front and half upon delivery.

Secondary - Weigh what's important to you. Is the cash worth giving up copyright? Is it worth shooting for free to add to your portfolio?

I don't think second and prime relationship is normally like this. I have second shot many times (50) and we never have any issues about the images, right to use, etc. I trusted my prime and he/she trusted me. If you don't trust someone why do you want to hire him/her to back you up. But how do you find someone you can trust on the internet?

Every time I see someone post a thread about "Looking for a second shooter" I think about the situation that Clamisha told us about at the top of this thread.
